Cultural & Natural History Tour | 2 nights/3 days


Day 1

On arrival, you will be welcomed with refreshment drinks. Camp staff will be waiting to receive you, and provide a brief about lodge facilities and discuss the afternoon programme.

Lunch will be served inside the dining hall or in a good weather, outside in the sitting area.

Lumbini is a World Heritage Site listed by the UNESCO for its exceptional cultural importance to the world. After lunch, excursion to the birthplace of Lord Buddha (Maya Devi Temple), visit to eastern monastic zone (Vihar of Royal Thai (Thailand), Myanmar Monastery (Myanmar), Eternal Peace Flame will be conducted. How many monasteries are visited depends on how much time you will be spending on each of these monuments.

Dinner will be served inside the dining hall or during cooler months outside depending on the guests' choice.

Day 2

Breakfast will be served inside the dining hall.

Today after breakfast, we will be driving about 17 km through cultivation, villages, and forests to reach Gaidahawa Tal (lake), north of Lumbini. For the conservation of vultures, a vulture restaurant has been set up nearby the lake.  On the way to this wetland, we will be stopping several times to see the farmland birds. Interesting birds today may include a lot of passerines and with luck threatened species of vultures.  The lake itself will have varieties of ducks eg Lesser Whistling Duck, Ferruginous Duck, Cotton Pygmy Goose etc and other waders. The lake birds will depend on the level of disturbance in the wetlands as the lake is used for aquaculture.

Lunch will be served inside the dining hall or in a good weather, outside in the garden.

After lunch, visit to Western Monastic Zone (The Chinese Monastery (China), The Great Lotus Stupa, (Tara Foundation), time permitting, we may visit the Peace Pagoda Stupa built with the support of Japanese people).

Dinner will be served inside the dining hall or during cooler months outside depending on guests' choice.

Day 3

Before breakfast, we will explore the habitat around the camp for the lowland farmland birds. The camp has 10 acres of land with mixed woodland, grassland and marshes. Birds may include Grey Hornbill, Asian Koel, Spotted Owlet,  two or three varieties of woodpeckers, Common Babbler, Indian Spotted Eagle, Sarus Crane etc.

Breakfast will be served inside the dining hall.

After our three nights, four days stay we will be departing from Lumbini Buddha Garden.
