This is my seventh times in Lumbini Buddha Garden (LBG). It will be injustice to LBG and their team members if I make a greediness to spill my word in this blog.

Managing the place

Susobhan was born in Kathmandu and after a fair college education his parents sent him for gaining a diploma in hotel management from Singapore. He returned back to Nepal after completing two years' diploma and tried several outlets in Kathmandu. Looking for something new he moved down to Chitwan and worked for the Rhino Residency Resort for about a year.

The Food King

Kabi grew up in a small village close to the oldest temple of Nepal, Changu Narayan--Bhaktapur that sits on the hill overlooking the beautiful riverscape of Manohara river. He worked in Banaras (=Varanasi) in a well-known hotel with nearly 80 rooms for about five years. This was the start of his career from India in 1993 –and after working there he returned back to Nepal. He was destined to work for 12 solid years for a mountain resort in Nagarkot as its main chef. He saw Nagarkot change from small hill town with a few tiny thatch roof guest houses to a town of much bigger, luxurious hotels within this period. He also decided that he should gain some experience from the rising middle east economy and worked three years in Dubai, the hub of west Asia. With over 23 years' experience in all these places, Kabi has seen more world than many others and cooked for 1000s of guests!

My Lumbini Visit After Six Years

I have visited Lumbini many times since 2007. I had an opportunity to participate in National Workshop on Mid-Winter Water Bird Count which was held in Lumbini Buddha Garden (LBG), Lumbini for the first time. Since then I was connected with Dr. Hem Sagar Baral and did many bird surveys and awareness programs around this area.

A place like no others at Lumbini

The Lodge had transformed compared to what it was then, but had still preserved many of the excellent qualities of its beginning. Nature was still in the centre of the development (one dozen additional rooms had been added since) and although some wildlife habitat had shrunk even here, the place is still like no others at Lumbini. We had originally planned just one night but ended up extending additional two days as my 8 yrs old daughter liked the place so much and insisted!

Awesome place

I was on my way to Nepal after finishing wonderful three weeks in India. I traveled in a group with other 9 people, most of whom were Aussie like myself. Crossing Indo-Nepal border in a bus at Sunauli, I realized in this part of Nepal the terrain and look of the houses very similar as in most of India I had traveled. We were spending first night of Nepal in Lumbini Buddha Garden.

Such a lovely place

Last week we were taken to Lumbini, Nepal where Lord Buddha was born approximately 2600 years ago. Before visiting Lumbini, Nepal I was unsure what the place would be like—where we would eat and rest as we were so many from our St Joseph School. It was beautiful to see the area where Lord Buddha was born and all the other temples, we visited around were also very beautiful.

Birding around Lumbini and Jagdishpur Reservoir, 2-3 MARCH 2020

I accepted Hem Sagar Baral’s kind invitation to join him and Tika Ram Giri birding around Lumbini and Jagdishpur Reservoir enthusiastically. In two previous years I had some great birding there, however, this time our birding even exceeded my expectation. We stayed at Lumbini Buddha Garden, which is an ideal location for birding the area and offers a range of comfortable accommodation to suit any pocket, as well as delicious meals and helpful, friendly staff.

Nepal's ecolodge in true sense

In a highly competitive world to sell their products and places, we are obviously way behind. We are now trying our best to show the spaces left for nature in our gardens and our love to the water, air, biodiversity in all means and the love for human-kind as a whole. At this juncture of life when we are thinking value and behaviour of humankind more than ever, we would like to update what's happening in Lumbini Buddha Garden.

My Experience in LBG

We all very well recognize Lumbini as a place that is far away from the city area out of all of the hectic road noises and busy people. It's peaceful, surrounded with greenery and is easily gratifying. As I travelled from Kathmandu to Lumbini with my family, we were on our Dashain vacation and we really needed a place that had an outdoor and some private area where we could feel comfortable and peaceful at the same time.
